INKWORTHY: Daughter’s death motivates mom, writer

Peg Harvey’s self-published travel book was written while she grieved.

Peg Harvey, 83, has self-published a book titled Bags Out at Seven, which contains vignettes about the people and places she’s encountered during her 27-year career as a freelance tour director in Los Angeles, Australia and New Zealand.

Harvey, of Orange Park, a past president of Orange Park Medical Center’s Auxiliary and a volunteer at the Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts, said when her daughter, Margo, died in March from heart disease she was so distraught she couldn’t leave the house or see people. So she got to work on the book that Margo had been nagging her to write.

“I’d spend eight hours writing and I felt like I could hear Margo say, ‘Good job mom,’ ” Harvey said.

Harvey’s book is available at www.xlibris.com for $20 in paperback and $30 for hardback.
