I wasn't aware of the earlier history of vanity publishing and how it came to be called that. I was on the phone with my brother earlier talking about how weird it is that people respect "indie filmmakers" and "indie bands" but if you're an "indie author" there is a bad connotation about it. Like...you must either suck, or else you must be a sucker (who falls for vanity publishing scams) Nice post on this.
